ARMING DOUBLET
A loose doublet with sleeves, worn over the armour in the 15th and 16th centuries. It was a form of damask. In 1542 there was "An armyng Doublet of crimson and yellow satin, embroidered with scallop shells, and formed down with threads of Venice gold."
